There is nothing more important to Macerich than the communities in which we reside. We care about our surrounding business partners, local schools and community organizations but mostly we care about the people. We want to show our appreciation, gratitude and loyalty the best way we know how- random acts of kindness

Macerich shopping center teams routinely reward unsuspecting community members at the shopping center or in the community with everything from popsicles on a hot summer's day to doggie treats at a neighborhood park. They're small gestures with a large impact, helping our centers build relationships and strengthen genuine ties with neighbors and shoppers.

Macerich launched the community initiative in 2004, two years prior to the opening of our Twenty Ninth Street property in Boulder, Colo. Over the next two years, mall representatives dished out "29 Random Acts of Kindness" to citizens, an unexpectedly fun way to say thanks to the community for its input, acceptance and overall enthusiasm for the emerging retail district.

Today, Random Acts of Kindness is a part of the Macerich vocabulary. Every Macerich center executes true random acts of kindness in hopes that like author, Lin Hsiu Nei said,

"A kind deed a day, like little drops of rain, Makes a mighty ocean and a gracious nation."
